Teaching Introduction - Wisdom

A man walking on a rocky path came across a shiny metal and stopped. He picked up the metal, looked at it, and began tossing it between his hands. When he got tired of playing with the metal, he dropped it on the path and continued his journey.

Another man walking down the same path came across the same shiny metal. The luster of the metal caught his eye and he stopped. He picked up the metal and started to examine it. He decided to take the shiny metal home to research it. On discovery that the metal was gold, he went back to the same path and found more gold. He took the gold home and kept the pieces clean and secure. When hardship struck, the gold he saved helped him to survive.

Scenario A viewed the shiny metal earthly: He saw it as a common metal Scenario B viewed the shiny metal heavenly: He saw it as an uncommon precious metal

Because scenario A viewed the metal from earthly perspective, he did not cherish the metal: He played with it and dropped it; this resulted to lack. Because scenario B viewed the metal from heavenly perspective, he cherished the metal: He took the metal home, studied it, kept it clean, and secured it; this resulted to sufficiency and life.
